Norfolk and Norwich University NHS Data Centres

What are the requirements to build a data centre?

Norfolk and Norwich University NHS had a number of onsite Data centres developed over many years and were subject to an external audit to assess their suitability. The report concluded that the supporting electrical & mechanical infrastructure did not provide the required resilience nor were they installed to regulatory or expected standards of a Data Centre.

It was proposed that a new Containerised Data Centre solution is procured to become the primary Data Centre to house the Trusts core servers and storage with one of the existing rooms remaining to be the secondary Computer Room.

Following  competitive tender Secure IT Environments Ltd was awarded the contract to supply, design, and install a 14 rack containerised data centre including  an N+1 mechanical and electrical infrastructure with a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.3 at full design load.

The project was completed on time, within budget and to our normal very high standard of workmanship
